Jenny’s Story

I was going through a hard time when the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. I found out I was pregnant unexpectedly and I felt overwhelmed. Everything in my life was very unstable. I had an unstable job, no insurance, an unstable relationship, no family or support in the area, and financial hardship…

Nena’s Story

I was 19 years old when I got pregnant for the first time. When my father realized I was pregnant he demanded I have an abortion, and he offered the money to pay for it. My mother-in-law and my boyfriend also pressured me to get an abortion and while my mom told me she would respect my choice, she said it was going to be a painful experience that I would regret for the rest of my life…

Karla’s Story

When Karla was 32 weeks pregnant she went to a prenatal care appointment, and was rushed to the delivery room shortly thereafter. Karla immediately called CPC, and when we answered she was crying and in distress. She was scared and worried because she was not expecting to be admitted that day and she didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to her children and family…

Libra’s Story

When I came to the Columbia Pregnancy Center, it was to confirm my pregnancy. This would have been the worst time to have a baby and I was in a state of total confusion and anguish. When I got the result and I saw it was positive, time stood still. I was invited into a room where I cried nonstop for an hour trying to explain why it was not the best time for me to have this baby and trying to find any reason to terminate my pregnancy. I was very distressed. I was so sure that I could not continue with this pregnancy, because I was sick, and I lacked support. I simply couldn't….

Gladis’ Story

“I don’t want to do it, but I have to.” I came to the Center in distress. I was a mother of 3 already, and I didn’t have the means or the time to care for another child. My husband was pressuring me to have an abortion, and I was convinced it was my only option. In my heart, I knew it was something against my conscience, but I also knew I could be fired from my job for being pregnant…

Margie’s Story

The day that I learned of my unexpected pregnancy I felt like my world was falling apart. I was entering the biggest storm I had ever experienced, but today I can say that storm has been my greatest blessing: her name is SARA LUNA.

Ericka’s Story

When I came to the center, I was terribly confused and sad because I did not plan to be pregnant. My husband and I did not have the money to bring another child into our family. I work in fitness and this unplanned pregnancy was going to change my plans, my body, and my work.

Sadia’s Story

When I first came to Columbia Pregnancy Center, I was in a really bad situation, and struggling with my daughter’s father. He wanted me to have an abortion. I didn’t know who to turn to. At that time, I didn’t really have a lot of friends or family to talk with about it and it was my first time (facing this decision). It was a really bad time, and it still sucks to think about it.

Mariana’s Story

One day my heart was broken into a million pieces. I was six months pregnant, and the doctors gave me two pieces of bad news: first, my baby girl had a heart defect that seemed incompatible with life; and second, I only had two weeks to decide whether to continue or interrupt the pregnancy. It is impossible to describe the inner conflict I suffered throughout my pregnancy. I didn’t want to abort but I could not help feeling guilt and despair at the prospect of bringing a child into the world only to suffer.

“Esther” Story

“Esther” first came to the center four years ago. She was calling from her car in our parking lot, and she briefly explained her circumstances and asked if we could see her today. Once in the counseling room, she began to share the entirety of her situation.  She was 21 weeks pregnant, she was struggling to find housing…
